Acoustic duo Chris Coole and Ivan Rosenberg are in  Guelph on Friday April 23 for a CD Release show at Folkway Music. This promises to be an outstanding show featuring two incredibly talented individuals.

“It is only a matter of time until Ivan Rosenberg becomes universally recognized as one of the more prolific masters of the resonator guitar.”  Bluegrass Unlimited

“Chris Coole’s banjo playing is frankly incomparable.” Penguin Eggs

World class Dobro, Clawhammer and Banjo duo, Ivan Rosenberg and Chris Coole may have lots of geographical territory between them, but they are from the same town, musically speaking.

Rosenberg hails from California and is known throughout the United States as one of the top Dobro players on the scene today. Coole is a Toronto native who is perhaps best known for his work with the award winning bluegrass unit The Foggy Hogtown Boys and for his clawhammer banjo recordings with Arnie Naiman.

Although both musicians make their living playing bluegrass, it’s their love of old-time traditional Appalachian music that has brought them together.

Coole and Rosenberg met in 2004 and have since played together every chance they get. In 2008 they took to the road as an acoustic duo, and have since toured from coast to coast a few times over.

2010 marks the release of their first CD, “Farewell Trion.” The music is a mix of old-time, bluegrass and country blues played on Dobro, clawhammer banjo and guitar – classic parlour picking by two great musicians.

Tickets are moving quickly for this one, so best to phone to reserve as soon as possible: 519-763-5524. $20 per person (GST incl).
