There will be a public meeting to unveil the architectural plans for the new Guelph Civic Museum Open House on January 13 2009 at 6.30 p.m. at the Guelph Civic Museum, 6 Dublin Street, Guelph.

    Tuesday, January 13, 2009
    6:30 – 8 p.m.
Guelph Civic Museum, 6 Dublin St

The Civic Museum building is no longer large enough. In 2005, a task force lead by Dr. Alastair Summerlee suggested the Civic Museum could make use of the historic Loretto Convent building and grounds.

A renovation and addition to the building will provide roughly 25,000 square feet of usable space, and will be designed to the LEED Silver standard. The grounds will include patron parking and outdoor programming areas.

    Tentative schedule for the project:

    • Demolition and Abatement (Interior) – December 1, 2008
    • Conceptual Design – January 1, 2009
    • Design/Tender Document Completion – May 1, 2009
    • Tender Call – June 1, 2009
    • Tender Award – August 1, 2009
    • Construction Start – September 1, 2009
    • Construction Completion – September 1, 2010
