Its nice to see young bands getting exposure in Guelph. On August 14, Jokers Wild, Red Rosary and Union Black will be playing at Ed Video.
Promoter Sue Smith, from Blossom Productions is very excited to be bringing Joker’s Wild to Guelph.
“They are young, original and seriously talented, influenced by Led Zeppelin and cool jazz with Nirvana and Jaco Pastorius and Chet Baker all getting a nod.”
Red Rosary, a fabulous young band from Guelph are also on the bill. They won the Guelph Battle of the Bands which landed them a gig at this year’s Hillside. They deliver groovy, original rock with brains and charm.
The bill is completed by Union Black, another great young Guelph band.
It promises to be an amazing night of music in Guelph. At only $5, a bargain and who knows, you may be there at the start of a bright new career or three!

Ed Video 2nd Annual Comedy Night
It’s not a bailout, it’s a fundraiser. But all joking aside, Ed Video Media Arts Centre is having its second annual comedy night fundraiser at the Guelph Youth Music Centre on Saturday March 7, 2009 at 8.00 p.m. Tickets are $25 each or $40 for a pair and are available at Ed Video’s offices on 40 Baker Street.
The line-up of stand-up comedians includes Levi MacDougall (famous for being the guy that always has the wrong tech in the Rogers’ ads), Press Release Repeat, OVC alumnus Ted Morris and the team of Josh Saltzman and Laura Cilevitz. Before the main show though, Ed Video will screen the entries in the “How Low Can You Go” short film competition. Ed Video Treasurer and Comedy Night organizer Andrew Seagram will host the evening.
Additionally, several items donated from Guelph artists and businesses will be up for bids at our silent auction, and this will be the last chance to buy a ticket for Ed Video’s annual raffle with its grand prize of free movies for a year for the Bookshelf, a Dean Palmer portrait session and other goodies. Otherwise just grab a drink from our cash bar, kick back, relax and spend a Saturday night having a good laugh or several.
Ed Video is a not-for-profit artist-run centre established to provide support for media artists in South Western Ontario. They provide affordable access to broadcast equipment, offer skill-enriching workshops, provide production funding and support programs, and a connection to the national, and international developments in media arts through our screenings, exhibitions, and production projects. Ed Video also maintains a video archive of members’ productions.
